We all share the fear that our need to love and be loved cannot be fulfilled.
-Thich Nhat Hanh
The fear of being lonely is always there, in everyone of us. It hides behind many different masks: We chaise the material stuff, run the rat race and build castles made of cards, we mirror whatever it’s accepted as a proof of success, hoping to increase our chances of deserving to be loved.
But to be loved, is to give love first. We need to give more of that energy that we hope to receive. We need to recognise and understand the ones around us, to love them is to listen without judgement. It is to offer understanding and comfort, creating an emotional place where they can feel at home.
Therefore the world needs more everyday Love: The type of love that doesn’t need a reason to exist (not a Thank you note for being nice with me first!). The loving energy that it’s not just limited to the context of a partner, but that also brings a smile in everybody we meet. Love who makes our friends feel at their best, and that encourage teams to go the extra mile to achieve greatness. Everyday love comes from the inside, and it doesn’t care if there are grey clouds outside. Everyday love is that warm feeling of gratitude in the morning, just because today we woke up one day more, breathing and alive, with the power to meet the day with passion and enthusiasm.
I adore your shortcomings because I see all my fears reflected in each one of them. I adore each piece of you, specially those that you are too afraid to show to the world, because with your shortcomings you give me the opportunity to open my heart, and it’s only then that we can have a deeper connection.
The energy of understanding and love
We feel bad when we think the world doesn’t understand us, when people don’t recognise our efforts or when it seems that nobody really cares. But the reality is that first we need to recognise, understand, and love ourselves because without self understanding it is impossible to give and receive love.
So first, we need to understand us -love us & adore us!!- and then we need to recognise others.
Because we all go though hardships! and it is easy to notice and complain when we are the ones dealing with disappointment or frustration. But what it is is harder, and takes real awareness is to notice when someone around us is suffering and when they need us. Just for a moment, let’s leave behind our desires and think of them first. Who is it there that needs you today?. Recognise them and love them with a kind gesture and a warm word. If you struggle to find the words, why not using these from Thich Nhat Hanh:
I know you are here and it makes me really happy.
I know you are suffering and that’s why I am here for you.
When we are loved we wish the others to recognise our presence too, but the reality is that this doesn’t always happen. But in true love, there is no place for pride, so go there and open your heart. If you are upset, please have that conversation and fix it, if you feel bad please ask for help. If you feel love, say so and share it as much as you can.
Dear reader, I am here for you. Thank you for reading. With loving eyes and an open heart I am telling you that I am really here for you.
